1973 Penton Six Day MX

This is another bike which is just a bit special. When I was moved up to the 125 CC Intermediate Class in 1973 at age 15, I purchased this bike to compete in the Intermediate/Expert Class on the CMC Motocross Circuit. Ten weeks later, after winning a few local races, I was moved up again to the Expert/Professional Class.

I rode this bike for over a year in the Pro Class, even winning a couple of times against many of the factory bikes. The biggest money week I ever had was $180.00, for winning at Escape Country and placing 3rd at Irwindale Raceway. I also rode this bike in the 125 CC Class at the 1974 Super Bowl of Motocross at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Making the main event, I placed 5th behind Marty Smith on the factory Honda RC125 and Mike Bell on a similar Honda 125.

After that race, the bike was retired and stored 20 years. In 1994, I started a 2 year restoration, converting the bike back to its original specs with parts found from Pennsylvania to Italy. Except for the side number plate, it is fully correct, including the Metzeler tires and Raedelli rims.

The bike was used as a center piece for Pentons 25th Anniversary in Ohio, and has won numerous awards. It has also been featured in VMX Magazine. This bike goes back to my roots in motocross and will always be a favorite.
