1973 BSA B50 MX

In the mid 60’s, the factory BSAs were a serious threat in the world motocross scene. Riders such as, Jeff Smith, John Banks and Dave Bickers piloted similar versions of this motorcycle to World and National Championships for “Birmingham Small Arms,” a company primarily known for its rifles and pistols. The bikes these sponsored riders were using were dramatically different in weight and horsepower than those made available to the public. Titanium and magnesium bits used in their prototype bikes, never made it to the assembly lines because of cost and the need to be competitive with Husky, Czs and Maicos of the period. Sadly, by 1974, the BSA logo was merged with Triumph as a last effort to compete with an evolving industry. By the late 70’s, Triumph closed its doors, unable to keep pace with the market. B50 models were available from 1971 – 1974 only, and only a handful were sold in the United States. This particular bike is new, never started right out of the crate.
