1972 Yamaha 360 RT2 MX

This RT 2 MX is one of Yamaha’s first real production motocross bikes. Prior to the release of the RT 2, Yamaha RT 1s were converted at the factory to race specification with a hop-up kit known as the “GYT Kit.”

The RT 1 “Genuine Yamaha Tuning” kit was available to the public and included carburation changes, a special pipe, and some porting modifications.

The RT 2 model came off the line with all of these modifications as well as suspension and frame geometry changes. The RT 2 would soon be outdated by the Jones-Hallman developed Yahama YZAs of 1974; which permanently set Yamaha as a serious competitor from that moment on.

This bike is accurately restored using most of its original components and it does have the original Japanese “Dunlop Sports” tires from that year.
