1969 Montessa Cappra 360-DS

1n 1968, Montesa built 1004 Cappra 360 CC bikes, all designated model 46M in blue. 502 made it to the USA. In 1969, Montesa built only 210 Cappra 360 CC bikes, all designated model 46M in blue. Approximately 100 made it to the USA. Many were converted from their intended desert use (hence “DS” Desert Special) to flat track use and they were nominally successful on the oval circuit. Some were campaigned as MX bikes like that of Ron Nelson, factory Montesa rider, alongside John DeSoto riding the orange 250 CC version. Tim Hart and Peter Lampu were also well known Montesa riders in the early 70’s, Peter competed in the World Championship series until approximately 1975 when the Japanese manufacturers started their overall dominance. This is one of probably 20 Desert Specials still in the USA but yet the only one I have ever personally seen.
