Trying to find the ultimate Desert racer, Husqvarna set out in 1973 to design just that. An increased 450 cc size motor, an enormous tank and the traditional great handling geometry that rewarded Husky for years with every major desert event win from the Mint 400 to the Baja 1000.
Unfortunately, what looks good on paper doesn’t always work; the “Desert Master 450” was proof of this. With a lack of power and suspect handling along with a high price, the bike did not sell as well as hoped. As a result, only a few were made and what proved back then to be a bike of no interest today, is a bike which is highly sought after and sells for a premium.
This bike was restored over an 18 month period by Vintage Husky and is 100% correct down to the original Barrum tires.
