This is the first year that Penton produced motorcycles. Offering only a few 100 CC bikes, Penton capitalized on the need of a competitive 125 CC bike for both enduros and motocross. These bikes were quick and handled as well as the established bikes of the period, mostly being 250’s. The initial design was smaller overall than the later 1972 version which felt like a 250, not only the physical size but the power band as well. This is the only 100 CC 1968 motocross Penton that I have ever seen; they were expensive and for just a few dollars more you could have a 125 which most riders opted for. This particular bike has a newly rebuilt motor from Doug Wilford and as expected, the correct Metzeler tires from Germany.
